I am quite surprised how good Emma stones accents is, I think Helena bonham carter would have made a better Cruella but maybe not during her younger years which this clearly is.

I’m seeing a lot of comments about how this is about empowerment and joker (and how Disney’s just making more tragic villain stories) when that couldn’t be further from the truth. This trailer is painting a picture of a woman who takes a downward spiral and embraces the madness within her, very adult. I hope this movie will be very different from disney norms because we’ve seen Disney go to dark places before and eventually sweep that under the rug but I hope this is no holds barred and we see the raw Cruella deville backstory we need.

You know why Joker worked, and this just by trailer isn't? The movie didn't try to romantizise Joker or his actions, only addresses how he became a criminal and the movie had a message toward society. This? It outright tells you Cruella is the best and tries to glorify her. This is just an empty "woman empowerment" without the nuansce a real feminist movie would have. A puppy skinner as a feminist icon? Who greenlit this?
