  • shkibeta

Needs more comparison about the actual lighting at night. When Nolan was talking about how the KCs had better clarity. A side by side of the mounted go pro footage would have shown us the difference between the lights in seconds. This video is a failure in showing us the real world difference in how the lights light up the night unfortunately.

God bless you and God bless anyone reading this! Hope you have an awesome day! Seek him while you can! Jesus is the way and the only way and he is returning soon! Whenever you think you aren't loved... Remember the ultimate sacrifice was for love! ENDING YOUR LIFE IS NEVER THE ANSWER! For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:16 KJV The wages of sin is death (hell) but Jesus paid our debt on the cross, for our salvation! We must turn to God and away from our sinful ways, Confess Jesus is Lord and believe with our hearts that he was risen from the dead by God, and we must be baptized in the name of the Father, the Son and The Holy Spirit and live by His word and Commandments! Trust that God will help with the rest! Seek God today before it's too late! Today could be your last day on earth! Have a blessed day! ----

They definitely could have gotten higher quality lights and more light output for a lower price than the KC's if they had gone with Diode Dynamics. Nonetheless the KC's look badass.

Best part about the cheap lights? You can buy multiples. One bar on the roof, one bar across the bumper, the little spotlamps on the bumper corners and front corners on the roof. The ability to light up a greater area in your immediate field of vision while driving is greater than that of the KC lights. The KC lights might go further, but a more completely lit up area is probably actually better for driving at night.

  • christian wolf

the types of lights used are different . the light bar is ment more for flood lighting . the KC light bar set up is ment for distance . you cant compare light systems that arre for two different thing . you are comparing apples and oranges .

  • gotindrachenhart

Seems to me the low truck kit was more useable as mounted though. I suspect the KC system could probably match it with a little tinkering around with the aiming/patterning though but, man for 90 bucks that's really hard to argue with.

The KC lights were better, proven with testing and on the trail, BUT, I think, realistically, it's hard to beat the $90 lights on the low truck. If I had a big budget, definitely the KC's, but as a working stiff, I'll spend that extra $1900 on things like rent, food, gas, etc...

Hi truck is kind of turning into just a pretty boy. You guys have some great components on there but you’re adding way too much weight and unnecessary crap and it’s gonna start to hurt the truck’s performance. Locking diffs and $5000 suspension aren’t gonna mean much when you have 1000 extra pounds on there. More weight can be beneficial to a certain point but these trucks are a 3.4 liter v6, eventually it’s just not strong enough to perform well at that amount of weight. Low truck is probably much lighter and may start to actually be slightly better before long. Just slapping a ton of expensive shit on there doesn’t make it better

I would rather demolish some cheap lights over time instead of expensive. The eventually break anyway. Also battery life/usage. Less stress. Put some red color effect gel on them. (Rosco Lee 106- prim.Red). Helps with visibility. More doesn’t mean better in some cases. Your eye’s adjust to darkness over time. Red light helps contrast and you can still see the stars afterwards. Also.. try navigating trough a sea of musquito’s with your portal to heaven setup. Red light doesn’t attract and distract the critters. I hate the Melolontha.

  • Touch My toes

Always run a light bar 3-4 inches behind the windshield to avoid light glare from the roof light

  • FrostDragon57

That last part when they were talking about the two different setups, and the part about wanting to drive at night. I like driving at night. I like how quiet it is. Less cars on the road, plus, I drive a lot off road or on small narrow dirt roads. I have a lightbar setup worth around 240euro, and it's a kind of lightbar with 45 degree ends to throw light in a almost 90 degree angle out. Which is a killer on narrow dirt roads with dense forests around you. Honestly speaking, if it wasn't for that light bar, I would not be comfortable driving on some roads. Especially not during moose hunting season. I can say that for most people, a cheap lightbar setup is worth it, for seeing more. But if you've got the money and want to light up the night like a portable sun, then go ahead and buy the more expensive setup.

Extra light is always helpful. About 1965, I was driving back to UC Riverside. I had Lucas "flamethrower" driving lights (top of the line in the 60s) on my car. Came over a rise and there was a car well ahead of me. Turned off the lights and a reflective road sign ahead of the other car dimmed.

If you drive with cheap spot lights in the rain, you are unable to see the road ahead where in the expensive lights it doesn’t reflex off the rain. 5700k is the best for driving with stormy weathers.

  • Eios

See a lot of KC fanboys etc but I mean honestly unless your a millionaire I don’t see how anyone could justify the difference for that price. Personally I’d spend $300 + on a better quality light bar which would be a lot better then the $90 one although it’s still plenty. And use the other $1600-1900+ on other mods for vehicle whether that be more lights, engine / rims whatever. Just makes no sense honestly

  • Eios

You know.. you can wire up those pod leds on a separate switch… not really a drawback of the cheaper system considering you just wired them all up together. Even then If your gonna use the big light bar, why would you NOT want the other lights on too? The reverse could be functional I guess for around other traffic etc.

  • Cory Derrickson
    Cory Derrickson

You really missed an opportunity on this one. I have a far superior lighting set up than the KCs and spent still a fraction of h the price. Also think about this, $2k for KCs or $2k of low's kind of lights 🤔

A interesting, informative test on comparing both types. I have been running a LED bar for maybe 4 years, it gets a lot of use being in Australia. For the money I would go the cheaper bar, there is only a certain amount of light you need to see the road for safety. I would be tempted to add a second full length bar to the bull bar though, so $180 is still far short of the $2k.

I think a Low Truck with 4500k or 5000k LEDs woulda had them drooling. I think the Low Truck had 6000 to 6500k which gave the light a more blue tint and I think that's what the guys meant about the KC's having a "more real" lighting.
