pop open on other nearby flats due to the pressure negative phase of the blast wave (Friedlander waveform) - perhaps that is what we are seeing here.

So ww3 is really starting?
The UK: We won the war! Germany: Just you wait!
Where are air raid sirens.
Positively thankful to the guys on Bomb Disposal! I know only too well of hoping that you would see you father after you get back from school!
If this was supposedly a experiment for legally studying bombs after telling people to evacuate the town for going for another war coming up from who knows what, after paying the residents money for new comfortable homes, then it is approved.
During WW2: "That bomb is an engineering failure!" 2021: "That bomb is an engineering masterpiece!"
devil: my acne is popping!
I walked down that road every week last year
Is everyone ignoring at the dude saying 'sheeeeeit'

We heard this in Norfolk!
The bomb was 80 years too late
How big was the bomb?
2000lbs
The Germans must've really hated the English although the Queen is a Saxon-Golgotha
I bet there's still loads of these around.
Wow amazing these bombs still being discovered. I'm from Ireland, my grandfather told me of a story one time in London during the war, he was in the Homeguard and work on a production line for the Wellington Bomber. One evening when he had finished work he was cycling home and heard the hum of a doodle bug, he threw himself and the bike to the ground and the street blew out in front of him. He was a Tipperary man and married a Kerry woman in London in 1940. They lived in Surrey. Returned home to Tipperary in 1952 with 2 girls.
With today's drone technology, you'd think they'd be able to at least ATTEMPT to diffuse this thing, right?
It's amazing, the continuing legacy of World War II. With the Funeral of Cpt. Tom Moore, and a bomb of the era exploding, on the same day. History seems so recent.

2020 it was Beirut looking at this like the uk is back in world war 2 again

There was a shock echo as well as the main one. Did it reflect off that hill in the background?

Did they not think to use a Kevlar blanket over top of the site to keep down as much flying debris as possible?

For context, this was a 1000kg bomb, the largest the Luftwaffe commonly dropped, the RAF raids later in the war routinely used a 4000lb (1800kg) ‘cookie’ as the main bomb alongside smaller bombs and/or incendiary clusters to a total of circa 10-14,000 lbs, bomb mix dependant on target.
more info please?
After seeing this , it goes to show how scary the war must’ve been !
It's hard to believe this is the work of a lunatic who died in 1945 but it is
Proper snidy!
Well, this is what would have happened if WW2 took place today as we have colour video and news platforms, but the weapons are from back then.
Imagine what a lot of middle easterners have to go through because of the same thing everday
😞
I saw and heard it lol, so much loader in person
hope we can agree that we as humans should never let this happen. let us peacefully stand up for pacifism. Interesting to see the windows shatter though
Believe me it happened and it was terrifying. I was sheltering under the stairs in my grandparents house when a bomb flattened the four houses directly opposite us. Nothing left but pile of rubble.
It’s a shame boris Johnson and Matt handcock weren’t walk-in above it as it exploded 😟
WOW 😲😲
POV you can here from the person on tik tok
Anhydrous ammonia has joined the chat
I have just watched it, and you can see a soldier in the smoke
Some local kids now have free sand pits in their gardens.
Joe Biden is going to retaliate by bombing Syria.
Nice . As in nice to see it gone , Not nice for the property owners.
Boy, that was more than someone's discarded lunch box !
Does this classify as the last bit of collateral damage from WW2?
now finnish what's left of exeter
Let's not drag the Finnish into this.
Also a few at Sunnydale area saltfleet UK , plus many other regions !
Shame it wasn’t ten times that size and in Worksop town centre, it would have done everyone a favour

1930 kids: Haha only one? Amateurs
At least they got a free firework show ☠️
lets raise a glass to quality German engineering!
Not as frightening a corvid though for some. Yep, thousands of us went through such for four years but pulled together and here we are today finally free again.
My brother goes to uni there but he is at home but hi girl friend was evacuated.I think she was pretty scared
Imagine digging up a bomb like that in the back garden LOL!
Glazier's happy time.
If this damaged a nearby house, would the insurance pay up?
Got to say that is a surprisingly big detonation.
@JZ's Best Friend Well what I would say in defence of the UxB team is maybe it was felt it was unstable due to deterioration in the ground. But it looks like most of the explosive detonated which of course they are supposed to neutralise as best they can beforehand. But we will have to see the inquest, I guess will now happen due to the damage caused.
@Rob Harris Considering the sensational viewing, I'm not surprised at all. Still, I fail to understand why it was decided to detonate a 1000 kg in a town? Over the last couple of years I know of at least two bombs of the same weight category being *taken away* because they were in town centers: one in Germany, courtesy of the RAF and one in Belgium, courtesy of the USAF.
@JZ's Best Friend Man, I don't believe this, there is actually reports coming in that several houses have been damaged by the detonation! Oops! danger UxB!
That's probably what the engineers said too, emphasis on the surprisingly-part.
I have never understood War. Old men sending young men to their deaths? FOR WHAT? Surely there has to be better ways of solving problems than killing people in this cowardly way?
By gone era
